Junior Giants Kids Festival - Donations & Volunteers Still Needed

LAZY DAYS OF SUMMER ARE FILLED WITH ACTIVITY FOR JUNIOR GIANTS
Bay Area Men’s Senior Baseball League Teams Up for Junior Giants Festival

(San Francisco, CA, August 1, 2009) --- This Saturday, August 1st, the Bay Area Men’s Senior Baseball League (BAMSBL) will be taking part in a “Junior” event – the Junior Giants Festival, held at Balboa Park in San Francisco.

Hosted by the Giants Community Fund, Junior Giants baseball is a free, noncompetitive league that uses the fundamentals of the game to promote life skills meant to stick with youth and their families long after the last ball is thrown. The program relies on volunteers and community support to continue their mission, and this year, the BAMSBL is generously contributing their time and energy to keeping kids running the bases, instead of the streets, during the summer months.

“The BAMBSL is proud to be a part of an event that not only enables kids to play ball, but to become leaders within their own communities,” says Anthony Bishop of the BAMSBL. “We’re excited to have the opportunity to get more involved with the Junior Giants – it’s a great cause.”

Junior Giants leagues from Fresno to San Francisco will be in attendance this Saturday to enjoy a full day of activities. Youth participants and their families will have the chance to take part in a free health festival from 11am to 2pm, and can expect a visit from San Francisco Giants mascot, Lou Seal, around noon. Scoreless baseball games between the various leagues will be going on all day, in addition to a series of fun, free attractions provided by the BAMSBL.

Anthony James Giraudo Memorial Golf Tournament

Some of you may know Bob Giraudo. He played for the Beavers for many years and last year he played for the 35+ Brewers.

On 9:45 PM on Friday, May 9, 2008, inside the gates of AT&T Park, his son, Anthony Giraudo, suffered a terminal blow to the head. He was enjoying his favorite pastime: baseball and friends.

Anthony James Giraudo Memorial Golf Tournament is hosting its First Annual "Best Ball Shotgun Start" Tournament Hosted at The Boulder Ridge Golf Club.

Please join the friends and family of our son, Anthony Giraudo, on Monday, July 20th, as we celebrate his life and produce funds to maintain a scholarship in his name. The Anthony James Giraudo Memorial Golf Tournament will support a scholarship for the student athletes of Woodside High School. This event marks the first significant effort to generate funds for this worthy cause.
With your support, we will collect the money necessary to provide two yearly scholarships for college bound athletes.

If you would like to play in the tournament you can register at http://www.anthonygiraudo.org

Hope to see you there

Brian Willis

VOLUNTEER TO HELP THE SAN FRANCISCO JUNIOR GIANTS

THE BAY AREA MENS SENIOR BASEBALL LEAGUE AND THE SAN FRANCISCO JUNIOR GIANTS have partnered together this year to host the Junior Giants Summer Festival to be held at Balboa Park in August 2009. BAMSBL has agreed to take on this years responsibilities in an effort to help give back to the community.

We are looking for volunteers from the BAMSBL family to help make this years festival a success for the children. For more information please contact Anthony Bishop at abishop@newcal.com

Information About The Junior Giants
-Junior Giants is a free, non-competitive and co-ed baseball program for children ages 5-18 in over 80 communities throughout California, Oregon and Nevada.
-Over 15,000 kids play Junior Giants each year, primarily in the summer months.
-With the help of over 2,000 coaches, players learn the importance of teamwork and confidence, rather than how many runs were scored or bases stolen.
-Because coaches are volunteer based, there is always a need in each and every league for more coaches.
-Each year, nearly 6,000 kids do not own their own glove. To decrease that number, a Glove Drive is held at AT&T Park where fans can donate a new or used glove, or $10, and receive a commemorative pin.
